Phlebotomus saltiae (M)

Phlebotomus saltiae Léger, Haddad & Chaker, 1997
Subgenus: Synphlebotomus Theodor, 1948

Male Synphlebotomus species are distinguished from all of the subgenera (except from Paraphlebotomus by their well developed gonocoxal basal lobe. They differ from Paraphlebotomus males by their gonostyle bearing long 5 spines. The specific discrimination within the subgenus mainly relies on the number and arrangement of the hairs located on the gonocoxal basal lobe.
